Construction

Royal Razor Barbershop is continually improving its appearance.  This week I wanted to add some depth to the space, so I created a striped detail on a bump out section on a wall.

I used some Frog Tape and some white paint to create a rather cool look.  I then added some Ikea Ribba picture frames…haven’t placed anything in them yet.

Please let us know what you think about the shop’s latest improvement.

Sup, Baltimore?  It’s been a while since my last post.  Here’s a quick update about Royal Razor barbershop.

Despite falling a few days behind the scheduled soft opening, Royal Razor has been making loads of progress with getting ready for opening next week.

Lately, it has been a whirlwind of marketing meetings, graphic design work finalization, ordering and installing fixtures, interviewing barbers and a million other tasks I handle every day.  Being an entrepreneur isn’t for the weak of heart.  I’m in the shop at the crack of dawn and here until almost midnight, if I don’t sleep here.  I’ve even sacrificed my once six-pack body and haven’t worked out in five weeks.

As you can see from the photos below, furniture has started to arrive and the waiting area floor plan is being worked out.  I’ve had my electronics crew install TV’s, free Wi-Fi, security cameras, and alarm system last week.  This is a barbershop so different from anything here in Baltimore and I can really feel the space starting to come alive.

There are still some issues that have to be addressed in the space but I’m cranking them out.  Additionally, I’m happy to report that as of today, I’ve brought on three multicultural barbers that I’m sure are going to be great fits for the shop.

Take a look at the progress of the shop.  Also, if you haven’t already found Royal Razor on Facebook, go to our page and “Like” us for additional updates and news.

Baltimore Barbershop Barber Shop Multicultural Black Latino Best Royal Razor

Guys I’ve been super busy with building Baltimore’s next great barbershop, Royal Razor!

The space was officially turned over to me on 26JUN and I’ve basically been living in the shop.  I’ve been building stations, helping old delivery men bring in heavy barber chairs, holding meetings, working with city inspectors, ordering additional items, holding more meetings, and doing countless other tasks.  I almost want to buy a sofa bed for my office but I’d probably sleep there every night instead of going home.

The space is starting to come alive with every equipment/furniture delivery.  It’s very interesting to see my idea turn into reality.

Take a look at the progression of Royal Razor so far.

Baltimore, I love going to the space because I can SEE Royal Razor Barbershop coming to life.

Just had an onsite construction meeting with the architect.  We went over the delays with floor sanding, Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) meter installation, and fire system inspection.

The space is 70% complete and looks completely different now than just two short months ago.  Royal Razor’s move in date is 4 June and now I’m ordering barber chairs, grooming stations, and other furniture to arrive the first full week of June.

Please keep coming back to this site to get the latest information on the barbershop or go to its official Facebook fan page.

Last night, I spoke with the architect and property manager about the completion of the construction. And of course, there are delays.

Some structural integrity issues with the shop facade need to be fixed and waiting for the power company to install a meter has pushed the timeline to the right.

I don’t mind delays…I even expect them.  I’ve been on too many home construction sites and engineering settings to know very rarely does any project finish on time.  Besides it gives me a bit more time to work out some internal kinks.

SEMPER GUMBY!

First day of construction of Royal Razor.  It has been over 15 months since its inception.  Some days I thought I would never find a location but now I’m so happy I choose this space.

Before Royal Razor Barbershop takes its place in downtown Baltimore, I want everyone to see what the space looks like prior to construction.  This space hasn’t be used in over 11 years and now it will have a purpose again.
