Being a neighbor of the famous Hippodrome Theater has its perks because sometimes we get some very special clients.  Last night, Noah Parets, the lead actor in Broadway musical, Billy Elliot, came in to get his hair cut by Jarrett.

We teamed up with local Baltimore men’s boutique, Different Regard, this past Wednesday, 28 November, and threw an event at the barbershop featuring their ready to wear collection and made-to-measure service.  We had a good turn out comprising of young professionals, artists, clients and neighborhood figures.

Free wine and food seems to draw a crowd…I wonder why?  LOL.

The event was a success…creating awareness for both brands, Different Regard and Royal Razor.

Starting in January, Royal Razor will be hosting monthly events to draw awareness to our brand and give something back to our clients.

I managed to take some pics before I got smashed.

Royal Razor Barbershop is continually improving its appearance.  This week I wanted to add some depth to the space, so I created a striped detail on a bump out section on a wall.

I used some Frog Tape and some white paint to create a rather cool look.  I then added some Ikea Ribba picture frames…haven’t placed anything in them yet.

Please let us know what you think about the shop’s latest improvement.

Downtown Baltimore is really trying to up its image with vast city planning ideas and initiatives for economic growth.  The organization that is in charge of such progress is the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore (DPOB) and last night they presented me with an award for my efforts positively impacting the community and economic growth of downtown through the creation of Royal Razor.

Last night the DPOB had its annual meeting/party, honoring business and community leaders of downtown.  Kirby Fowler, the president of DPOB, did a great job of organizing the event, the Mayor of Baltimore, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, spoke and of course, yours truly brought class to the joint.

I would really like to thank Mackenzie Paull and the Downtown Partnership for their help over the last year, recognition of my hard work, and for showcasing Royal Razor in the 2012 Annual Report.

Late last night the doors of Royal Razor couldn’t stay shut because people kept coming in until 9pm.

Baltimore barber, Joe Hickey, was making his customer Leg Mason executive, Chris look amazing before he headed out for a some Friday night fun.

Let Joe take care of you too.  Come visit us,

As some of the last touches are happening for the barber shop, Royal Razor has finalized the window signage for the shop front.  And as modest as I am…not really, I must say this is the coolest barbershop window graphic I have ever seen.  As of right now, my design is pending review with the landlord and property manager.

I would like to personally thank my designer, Tommy, for really giving Royal Razor such a strong graphic, branding image.  Without him, it wouldn’t look sooooo cool.

The photo above is what the shop front will look like.

Sup, Baltimore?  It’s been a while since my last post.  Here’s a quick update about Royal Razor barbershop.

Despite falling a few days behind the scheduled soft opening, Royal Razor has been making loads of progress with getting ready for opening next week.

Lately, it has been a whirlwind of marketing meetings, graphic design work finalization, ordering and installing fixtures, interviewing barbers and a million other tasks I handle every day.  Being an entrepreneur isn’t for the weak of heart.  I’m in the shop at the crack of dawn and here until almost midnight, if I don’t sleep here.  I’ve even sacrificed my once six-pack body and haven’t worked out in five weeks.

As you can see from the photos below, furniture has started to arrive and the waiting area floor plan is being worked out.  I’ve had my electronics crew install TV’s, free Wi-Fi, security cameras, and alarm system last week.  This is a barbershop so different from anything here in Baltimore and I can really feel the space starting to come alive.

There are still some issues that have to be addressed in the space but I’m cranking them out.  Additionally, I’m happy to report that as of today, I’ve brought on three multicultural barbers that I’m sure are going to be great fits for the shop.

Take a look at the progress of the shop.  Also, if you haven’t already found Royal Razor on Facebook, go to our page and “Like” us for additional updates and news.

Baltimore Barbershop Barber Shop Multicultural Black Latino Best Royal Razor

Guys I’ve been super busy with building Baltimore’s next great barbershop, Royal Razor!

The space was officially turned over to me on 26JUN and I’ve basically been living in the shop.  I’ve been building stations, helping old delivery men bring in heavy barber chairs, holding meetings, working with city inspectors, ordering additional items, holding more meetings, and doing countless other tasks.  I almost want to buy a sofa bed for my office but I’d probably sleep there every night instead of going home.

The space is starting to come alive with every equipment/furniture delivery.  It’s very interesting to see my idea turn into reality.

Take a look at the progression of Royal Razor so far.
